Doubt

Do you ever question your relationship with God?  I mean do you ever wonder if you are really in right standing with your Higher Power.  I have, and I'll bet you have too.  Do you ever question weather you are worth the promises that recovery has given you or if you really deserve any good thing at all?  I have, and again, I'll bet you have too.

Well let me put your mind to rest about weather we are worthy of these thing or not.  The answer is NO we are not worthy.  "Oh, here we go", you say to yourself or your monitor.  Well let me suggest that the reason God has given us the opportunity to have a right standing with him, To receive the promises of recovery and all the good stuff life has to offer, is because of the great love he has for us, not because of anything we do.  Nothing we have today including our sobriety is a result of our own doing alone.  God has been behind the life giving force of healing all the time.  With out him there would be no 12 Steps let alone any recovery.

And even if you don't believe in God, the facts are still the same.  He is behind it all.

God doesn't love you and I because we are worthy, he loves us because that's his nature.

My friends, we all doubt, we all question, and we all wonder if this recovery and God thing is all it's cracked up to be.  It's natural to doubt, to question ones salvation.  You see there is nothing we could ever do that's good enough, that's why God sent his son Jesus.  When the Lord sees you and I, he sees us through the eyes of his son, and what he sees is a person without spot or wrinkle.  His love is a free gift to all of us.  And as with any gift in order to receive it we must reach out and take hold of it.  We can't do anything to earn his love; it's a free gift.

So the next time you doubt your relationship with your Higher Power, think about this.

1. It's natural to doubt.

2. Facts are facts, and feelings are feelings. Go with the facts regardless

how you feel.  And the fact is... God loves you just the way you are,

   doubts and all.

3. Remember, God has never let you down. He has always kept you

close to his side, watching, and caring over you.  Look how far you

have come from where you were 10, 5, or even 1 year ago.  Do you

think that is all from your doing?  If God didn't love you just the

way you are how could you have possibility made it this far.

4. God doesn't have any Grandkids, we are all his son's and daughter's.

The inheritance of Gods love is directly ours.

5. And next time you are beating your self up for doubting, try dropping

the rock, no one else is throwing rocks at you, you silly person. Least

   of all God.

If you base your self worth on your behavior you will always come up short.  Base it instead on God's eternal love for you.  Self Esteem is Hog Wash.  We are incapable of esteeming ourselves.  Only God esteems us.

And according to the Bible, he esteems us higher than the angles.

Have a bountiful day in him.

Meditation:

We all question ourselves and God now and then.  It's only natural.  When we have trouble with our faith we should remember that our Higher Power is still who He is regardless of our doubt.  We can rest on the knowledge that He is trustworthy even when we don't believe.
