Hurt in Recovery

The loss of a best friend because of a fallout between the two.  One wants to reconcile, the other is bitter and resentful.

Sound familiar?  It hits home with me because I have had this happen more than once in my life. What in God’s kingdom do you do about the emotion and turmoil that goes on inside your heart?

The Bible says that God loves a broken and contrite heart. This is in reference to a repentant heart that seeks the Lord and His forgiveness.  However it can be applied here too.

My dear friends, when a friend makes the decision to walk out of your life we must not try to understand it.  If we attempt this we will spend countless hours and days in misery and self-pity.  It is wiser to not lean on our frail understanding. We must lean on the Lords understanding.  God knows what’s going on and He can restore anything.  Put your trust and faith to the great healer of broken hearts.  If you ask Him into your life (Step three) He will heal your heart.  It’s His promise.  God is our best friend, Heavenly Father and Almighty Creator.

Pray for your friendship and pray that God blesses him or her with the best God can give.  And if the friendship is to be healed we must pray for God’s will and not ours.  Then ask Him to release you from the burden of something you cannot change.  Let go, Let God.

Meditorial

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Expect God to move. He will and the results will always be for our best.

Recovery Times has but one purpose and goal, and that is to carry the message of 12-Step Recovery  -- as written and practiced in its founding organization's (AA's) unaltered 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Concepts for World Service, but not limited to only AA-sanctioned material (such as The Holy Bible, The Koran, The Upanishads, etc.). Recovery Times is not affiliated nor approved with or by any 12 Step organizations.

Recovery Times publishes only each author's opinions or positions on all matters, and doesn't necessarily agree or disagree with anyone on anything. Our Principles and Protocols are expressed beautifully in the Prayer of St. Francis (p.99, 12-Steps and 12-Traditions).
