First Love

Does this mean I'm going to talk about problems in relationships  Well, not really.
But I do want us to ask ourselves "who was our first love"

Was it that good looking knock out in High School, you know the one, she didn't even know you existed. Or perhaps it was that studly young jock that played on the football team that was untouchable.  Or maybe you were like me and your first love was of a different nature like Art, or Music, or Drama, or your Car or something like that. Regardless of what or who it was, do you remember the passion you felt when you would focus on your first love?  Can you remember how nothing else mattered and how you would do anything to be able to be a part of it. Let's talk about that passion for a moment.  Did it keep you up at night, thinking about it, dreaming about it, making plans and giving you an excitement about life that you rarely feel today?

Was it really my first love that was so important or was it my ability to feel the childlike excitement that only comes from a heart felt desire to reach our goal no matter what.
Friends, I want that kind of passion for life back again.  the fact is that there are just some things we can't ever have back like it was when we were younger, but this is not one of them.  We truly can have that passion for living back.  We can experience the flair of the new day, the spark of the fresh air, the anticipation of a special event or day to come.  We can have it as if we were little kids again. How?  We must become as little children again. O' not in every way, we are adults now and have adult responsibilities.  But we must become as little children when it comes to enjoying life to the fullest.  What are some of the attributes of little kids?

Kids tend to be truthful. they say it like it is. They tell you straight out what's on their mind.  When they are unhappy, they let you know,  but when they love you, they show it like no one can.

Kids are trusting. they believe in all the great things that life can offer them, they believe in each other.
Kids have vision.  they are always making plans to move ahead.  they are never satisfied with just one thing.  they are always after the golden ring.

Kids are forgiving. you can neglect them all day long and they still come back for your love.

Application and Implementation

Can we return to the passion we had when we first realized our first Love?
Spirituality, my first love was Jesus Christ.  In many ways I have left the passion I had for him in the past.  Have you ever said to yourself, "I wish I could have that feeling back that I had when I first gave my life to Christ" or when I first completed my 4th and 5th Step, or when I got my One year sobriety chip ?
I have, and guess what, it takes some work but I got it back.  It's different, but the passion is even stronger than when I first fell in love with Christ.

So here is a suggestion..... What ever was your first love, recall the passion you held in your heart for it. Resurrect that passion by becoming a little more childlike, then go for it.  Grab on to life with all the spiritual energy of a child, let God guide your path each day, and don't be afraid to jump up and down once in a while.... in public!

Return to the passion of your first love and begin to live again

Blessings,
